Assemblyman's Wife Makes Video To Protest Banishment From Sen. Greg Ball's Facebook Page

Nicole Katz, wife of Assemblyman Steve Katz, has made a video protesting being banned from State Senator Greg Ball’s Facebook page. Ms. Katz told The Politicker she was banned from Senator Ball’s page December 8 after posting a comment chastising him for criticizing Congressional Republicans. The video, entitled “Delete this, Greg Ball,” stars Ms. Katz in a scary, suburban salad drama that ends with her mouth being duct taped shut.

Ms. Katz released her video on, where else, her Facebook page Sunday morning.

“Day #11 of banishment from Senator Greg Ball’s facebook page. Today, a video for you! Turn your speakers all the way up, the volume is low,” Ms. Katz wrote.

In the past, the Katz’s supported Senator Ball, including donating $3,000 to his Senate campaign last year. On the day after she was banned, Ms. Katz explained why the Facebook flap bothered her so much.

“I would say that it’s rather important as an elected official that he ecncourage free speech,” said Ms. Katz. “Facebook is a forum for free ideas.”

Ms. Katz’s video features her friend, Robin, serving her salad. All of the people sitting around the table compliment her cooking except Ms. Katz.

“This is great Robin, just one thing, I don’t like black olives, I really prefer green olives,” Ms. Katz says.

Robin responds by shutting Ms. Katz’s mouth with a piece of duct tape.

“How do you like my salad now Nicole?” Robin asks as Ms. Katz stares incredulously at the camera.

The clip ends with text that reads, “To silence criticism is to silence freedom.”

  1. Len Lesser says:

I have no idea who any of these people are, and whether they are Democrats of Republicans.  But there is something seriously wrong with Nicole Katz and her family.  Jesus what’s the matter with people.

    1. Jesus doesn’t like people like you. He told me.

  2. Dusty says:

I think it is great when citizens take a stand and speak up
for their opinion. Bravo Nicole Katz!

  3. Discouraged in NY says:

@Len  Actually I’m more concerned about elected leaders silencing citizens not for being rude or vulgar, but simply for not agreeing with them.  Shouldn’t you be?

    1. Maurackelly says:

I agree, which is why I am calling on Ms. Katz and her husband for assistance with Congresswoman Hayworth who has banned DOZENS of NY19 constituents for disagreeing with her on her FB page.

      1. Hvpatriots says:

No need to call on anyone to help you. If we EACH don’t take our own issues to the streets and keep depending on some else to fight our battles – we deserve everything we get!

  4. Howard says:

This is 21st century citizen’s political satire showing how elected officials only want to listen to constituents when they express views in line with their thinking. In the past there were children’s nursery rimes such as London’s bridge is falling down and Old king Cole was a merry old sole. Now that people have become active and want a government that represents and listens to us we can expect to see more of this using current technology. I am thankful for the Tea Party movement that has gotten people off the couch and involved in this facet of our lives. Our elected officials better get ready for a paradigm shift in the way they have been conducting business for the past so many years. I congratulate the Katz family for being a vanguard in the movement. Let’s see more of this.

‘ I congratulate the Katz family for being a vanguard in the movement. Let’s see more of this.’

Couldn’t agree more. Congresswoman Hayworth has banned dozens of commentators from her Facebook page, for disagreeing with her political positions.

  5. Phyllis Mills says:

LOVE the video.  We need our politicians held accountable.  Good work Nicole.  Thanks for speaking up.

  6. Alicia Boland says:

Loved it.   Did you use union actors???   If not, there is another problem for the Progressives.

    1. I’m a progressive. It’s child labor. I love it.  ; )

  7. Bbertha says:

    love it

  8. Callie3 says:

HELLOOO…. it’s only FACEBOOK!!! Get over it.

    1. That’s not the point.  Facebook is a big communication tool that many use to share information and ideas.

  9. Lorraine Morano says:

    lol, great Nicole.

  10. Len Lesser says:

There is no “freedom” to write on someone else’s facebook page.  It’s completely moronic, and it’s involving her kids in a personal political squabble.

As you can all see from the video, the bad mother in this video is hardly “silenced.”  Completely retarded.

    1. You have no idea what you’re talking about. The woman in the video is an adult, Robin Murphy. She and her husband Gary Murphy are good government activists. It is a family decision and their children enjoy participating with their parents in something called Democracy.
This short video is done on a shoe string and it’s funny not nasty. More political speech should follow it’s lead.
This Democrat and Liberal applauds the Katz’ and the Murphys for setting a good example for their children. I have met the Murphy’s daughters and they are very  well behaved and aware of the privileges they possess. In short, their parents are raising them with a sense of gratitude, not a sense of entitlement.

One final thing “Len” — do you know how ugly and ignorant it is to call behavior of which you don’t approve “retarded”?

      1. Maurackelly says:

I agree, which is why I ask : ” On behalf of the numerous Face Book
users who have been banned from Congresswoman Nan Hayworth’s page, I
would like to invite Ms. Katz and her husband to join those of us who
have been banned from Nan Hayworth’s Facebook page for our political
comments. We agree wholeheartedly with Ms. Katz’s comments that we must
stop ‘the silencing of our freedom.’ Perhaps with Ms. Katz’s help we can
bring this censorship to prominence as an issue in NY19? ? Ms. Katz,

  11. Pmarengo says:

Ball showed his colors in the spring when he stormed out of a meeting with me and two elderly fellow constituents after we respectfully pressed him about the pending gay marriage bill.   It was the same day as the annual Knights of Columbus prayer rally in Albany.  He could not care less about our concerns and was extremely agitated, even cursed a couple of times.  His temperment was awful.  And yet, after he left us, he went down to the front of the state building and, like a good politician, voiced his support of the sanctity of marriage in the middle of the KofC rally!

  12. Maurackelly says:

Nan Hayworth has banned ~25 people from her Facebook page for their political comments. Ms. Katz- have you told Nan how you feel about this censorship?

    1. PBOS says:

If Congresswoman Hayworth is banning people  from her Congressional (and therefore taxpayer paid) Facebook page unless they support her positions, then she is violating the rules of Congress and is misusing taxpayer funds. Before you say a FB page is free – she is using Congressional staff to monitor and post to that page. We are paying their salaries.

  13. Maurackelly says:

Agree with Howard and others who responded similarly – and didn’t I just want to poke Lee in the eye for saying there’s something wrong with the family who posted this video! Kudos to the family & Mrs. Kratz ;-)
