New York State Republican Party Chairman Ed Cox did not take kindly to comments Attorney General Eric Schneiderman made about Mitt Romney and he fired back with a scathing statement. "Being called 'out of touch' by Eric Schneiderman is like being called 'ugly' by a toad," Mr. Cox said. 

Mr. Romney was in New York City this week raising funds for his Presidential campaign. To mark the occasion, Mr. Schneiderman released a statement Tuesday calling Mr. Romney's position on the foreclosure crisis "woefully out of touch with the daily struggles of millions of American homeowners."

Mr. Cox hit back Thursday with a statement of his own.

"We're glad that Eric Schneiderman is willing to share his thoughts on the Republican primary - but being called 'out of touch' by Eric Schneiderman is like being called 'ugly' by a toad. As one of the leaders of the Senate Democratic Conference, Schneiderman helped pass two late budgets that increased taxes and spending by $14 billion and pushed the state budget $10 billion into the red. ... He ruined businesses small and large by increasing countless business taxes, fees and regulations and driving jobs out of the state," Mr. Cox said.

Mr. Romney is currently in New Hampshire, far from the front lines of this nasty spat.
