Republican Presidential candidate Herman Cain is bringing his “9-9-9 Plan” to the 212 area code. Mr. Cain is spending November 11 in the Big Apple to raise funds with a lunch at the Russian Tea Room and cocktails at Club 101 on Park Avenue.
Both events feature a half hour “VIP Reception” with a minimum donation of $999 and an hour-and-a-half long “General Reception” that costs $500 to get in the door. Mr. Cain announced the event in an email to supporters late Thursday evening. Hosts for Mr. Cain’s fundraisers mostly come from the financial industry and include neoconservative investor Ziad Abdelnour and Adam Victor, a coal executive, entrepreneur and enemy of Deputy Mayor Dan Doctoroff.
Mr. Cain surged to the top spot in the polls until last Sunday when news broke that he allegedly made inappropriate advances to women while head of the National Restaurant Association in the late 1990′s. He spent much of this week doing damage control, but so far, the scandal doesn’t seem to have hurt his lead in the race for the Republican nomination.
