A source close to east side Councilman Dan Garodnick tells The Politicker that he has signed up with fundraising/consulting firm Bedford Grove in anticipation of a possible run for City Comptroller.
Buzz has building about a possible comptroller run for Mr. Garodnick. A recent story in City Hall detailed how Mr. Garodnick was quietly–and not so quietly lining up supporters and meeting with labor unions.
The race to replace John Liu only happens if Mr. Liu decides to run for mayor, something about which there is a great debate in New York political circles. Mr.Liu is said to be taking a hard look at it, but recent disclosures about campaign finance irregularities may convince him to wait.
Bedford Grove has already signed on with Bill Thompson’s mayoral campaign, and last year worked on the races of Kathleen Rice for attorney general and Basil Smilke for State Senate. Both lost.
