Herman Cain said he’s gone from CEO of Godfather’s Pizza to instrument of God in an interview with the Christian Broadcasting Network News program “The Brody File” where he likened himself to Moses.
Mr. Cain made the comparison when describing how the voice of God was instrumental in his decision to run for President:
“When I first started to feel that I needed to consider running I did a lot of praying. I felt like Moses when God said, ‘I want you to go into Egypt and lead my people out.’ Moses resisted. I resisted. Moses said you got the wrong person. You can’t be talking about me.
I had these conversations with God in terms of, ‘Lord, I’ve done a lot of things but are you sure? But you shouldn’t question God.”
In his conversation with CBN News, Mr. Cain also revealed he’s O.K. with not knowing “who is the president of Ubeki-beki-beki-beki-stan-stan:”
“I’m ready for the ‘gotcha’ questions and they’re already starting to come. And when they ask me who is the president of Ubeki-beki-beki-beki-stan-stan I’m going to say you know, I don’t know. Do you know? And then I’m going to say how’s that going to create one job? I want to focus on the top priorities of this country. That’s what leaders do.”
Initially considered a longshot to win the Republican nomination, Mr. Cain has been gaining ground since his victory in the Florida straw poll late last month although many see his recent success as a flash in the pan. In a new poll released today by Bloomberg News and the Washington Post, Mr. Cain came in second place in the Republican field behind Mitt Romney.
