Actor and Mayoral wannabe Alec Baldwin and New York State Senate Majority Leader Dean Skelos traded barbs yesterday. Mr. Baldwin dispatched his spokesperson to say Mr. Skelos lacks knowledge about financial issues.
Mr. Skelos got the ball rolling during a radio interview where he criticized Mr. Baldwin for supporting higher taxes for the wealthy.
“We can’t be influenced by the Alec Baldwins of the world that are just buying a $17 million condo in Greenwich Village and he’s going to tell us that we should tax everybody else,” Mr. Skelos said.
Mr. Baldwin’s latest real estate purchase was actually a far more reasonable $11.7 million duplex.
The actor responded to Mr. Skelos in true celebrity style–through one of his reps.
“Skelos is a Nassau County Republican … what does he know about taxation and finance?” Mr. Baldwin’s spokesperson asked on his behalf.
Nassau County is currently dealing with extensive financial problems.
Perhaps, despite their political differences, these two are simply too similar to get along.
