Bob Turner was sworn into Congress this morning amidst much congratulations from his fellow members of the New York delegation.
“As all of you know, this is not something we are used to doing in New York,” said fellow Republican Peter King in the well of the House. He described Mr. Turner as “a great friend and a great human being.”
But by far the best moment came after Mr. Turner was introduced by Charlie Rangel, the dean of the delegation, and the newly-minted lawmaker tried to speak before being recognized by Speaker of the House John Boehner.
Such protocols, we imagine, take some getting used to.
