Queens Assemblyman Rory Lancman sent out a statement this evening blasting Bob Turner for voting to prohibit the National Labor Relations Board from trying to block Boeing from operating a new $750 million aircraft assembly line in South Carolina.
“My new Congressman’s honeymoon ended when his first vote in Washington was to undermine basic worker protections and enable companies to outsource American jobs overseas,” Mr. Lancman said.
Boeing allegedly illegally relocated part of its operation to South Carolina in retaliation against its unionized workers. The measure passed along an almost strict party line vote.
Mr. Lancman lobbied hard to be named the designee of the Queens County Democratic Party to run against Congressman Turner. Party head Joe Crowley ultimately picked Assemblyman David Weprin, who went down to a shocking defeat Tuesday night. But with Republicans now vowing to keep the 9th Congressional District in tact after reapportionment, Mr. Lancman may get his shot to square off against Mr. Turner.
