Park51 developer Sharif El-Gamal appeared on “Inside City Hall” last night and had some choice words for Bob Turner, who has made opposition to what he calls “The Ground Zero Mosque” a centerpiece of his campaign.
“The right wing has tried this already and it has failed miserably. New York is better than that. New York is so much better than that,” El-Gamal said. “What is really sad and pathetic is that today a politician is entering the race with misleading ad. We are not building a mosque on Ground Zero. And this is a man who wants to be a leader in a district. That’s pathetic.”
At issue is an ad Turner has released that slams David Weprin, his Democratic opponent in the Ninth Congressional District, for supporting the right of El-Gamal to build a mosque and cultural center in Lower Manhattan.
