Bill Clinton: Rick Perry is a 'Good-Looking Rascal,' But His Platform 'Is Crazy'

Bill Clinton said newly announced presidential candidate, Republican Governor Rick of Texas was a “good-looking rascal” whose railings against the federal government were nonsense.

Speaking at a fire fighter’s conference in midtown Manhattan this morning, Clinton said, “I got tickled by watching Governor Perry announce for governor, for president. He’s a good looking rascal.”

The audience — members of the International Association of Fire Fighters from across the United States and Canada — laughed.

Clinton, dressed in a dark suit and gray tie, continued his riff on Perry — who officially announced his presidential campaign on Saturday.

“And he’s saying ‘Oh, I’m going to Washington to make sure that the federal government stays as far away from you as possible –while I ride on Air Force One and that Marine One helicopter and go to Camp David and travel around the world and have a good time.’ I mean, this is crazy.”

I would be happy to let him have as much fun as he wants just to keep business legal. I think American businessmen should be lining up on their presidential kneepads on to show their gratitude for keeping the bureaucracy off our backs.

(And unlike the feminists, that proposition actually adds up for the small business owners.)

I love to hear him talk and he’s a smart and effective politician but, has everyone forgotten all the salivating over Obama when he was running…all the tingles…
Just as I wouldn’t hold his looks against him if they were bad I wouldn’t bcos he’s attractive.

I think Bill has Perry confused with Obama.  Obama and his family have done nothing but run around on Air Force One, Marine One and go on vacation all over the world on the taxpayers dime.

    1. budgetguy says:

Isn`t funny thatBetty writes about the President and his vacations. The media mentioned earlier today that Obama took one vacation day up until today for every 3 days that Bush 43 took.  I g that Betty didn`t know that or if she did it didn`t matter because it is just another way to attack the President,

      1. Aramkr says:

W was president 3 times as long.

      2. Richard says:

I guess disguising vacations as presidential business is the play of the day.  Obama’s excessive spending while telling us to conserve is a ridiculous abuse of his position.  It makes me nauseous.

    2. MGTRRZ says:

You, not Unlike many Repubs-have a very short memory-Bush Spent most of his time on Vacation while the Nation was Warring and Avoided Katrina Plagued New Orleans
when People Really needed the Support of the Nation’s Government head…But-We All Know the Republican Philosophy;’Anything that WE Do Is Okay—But, If You Do It—Well-Then IT”S WRONG’!!!

      1. TexRancher says:

You sort of forgot that Bush had Federal help ready to go, but Governor Blanco refused to ask (allow) it. Same with Nagin. After all, his family was secure. Also, Bush was there but chose NOT to interfer with recovery efforts with a political photo op like Kenya Boy.

As for his “vacations” in Crawford, he took his staff and crew as well as foreign dignitaries and kept the work going. He wasn’t out on the links losing his his balls.

      2. MGTRRZ says:

You and Palin-Put all the ‘Lipstick’ on it You want—It’s Still a PIG!
Obama’s STAFF will be with Him Also-He will be WORKING as well.
Perhaps Bush Wasn’t ‘Losing His Balls’ Because HE Didn’t HAVE ANY To Begin With-As Evidenced by his Tenure as President!!!

      3. Richard says:

I think that Obama holds the all time record for vacationing on our dime.  He has spent way more than Bush ever dreamed of spending.  Of course they have to spend billions on their vacations since he is so busy trying to create jobs for our country and that is hard work.  Needs to be on vacation to get his thinking straight.

  10. MBS says:

“while I ride on Air Force One and that Marine One helicopter and go to Camp David and travel around the world and have a good time”

So it’s okay for Obama to do all that, since he’s for big government? Is Clinton really trying to say that any conservative President who utilizes Air Force One, Marine One and Camp David, is a hypocrite? Seriously?  That’s just silly.

  11. Tulip42 says:

Yeah right, bubble nose. Be afraid, be very afraid losers. The fact that the attacks have begun speaks volumes of the current regime. Hillary is screwed again, even if she could mount a primary fight. Clinton will be remembered as the guy who got a BJ in the oval office, period!

  12. Mitchellvii says:

And there we have the rub as they say.  Liberals think that CREATING JOBS IS CRAZY.

  13. Mitchellvii says:

You wanna know the truth?  The truth is Perry is giving Democrats a thrill down their leg but it’s not what you think.  It’s the sensation of wetting their own pants over the prospect of facing Perry (and potentially Perry/Romney, Perry/Christie or Perry/Rubio).

    1. Aramkr says:

By the time Obama’s had his full term, a propellor beanie on a hat rack will be able to beat him.

  14. Otto Man says:

“And what is President Obamas plan…has Mr. Clinton heard?
Could he let us in on it?”

In addition to spelling it out in a detailed budget and three different plans that the Republicans rejected during the debt ceiling hostage crisis, Obama has literally given four speeches in the past week offering his economic vision for the next two years.

And if you weren’t the kind of idiot who only got their “news” from Fox, you’d know that.

    1. Mitchellvii says:

A detailed budget?  Oh you mean the one the Senate voted down 97-0?  Surprised you would choose to bring that up.  The ONLY plans put to paper and voted on (passed in the House twice and tabled – not even allowed up for debate – in the Senate) were Republican plans.

The Democrat controlled Senate has not passed a budget in almost 3 years now.  Are you aware of some sort of budget they passed that FoxNews forgot to mention?  Please share.

Obama’s speeches laying out his “vision for America” consisted of him asking people to call their Congressmen and telling us the rich aren’t paying their fair share.  Is THAT a plan for America?  Sorry if I don’t get excited.

      1. Otto Man says:

“The Democrat controlled Senate has not passed a budget in almost 3 years now.”

Once again, what alternate reality do you people live on?

The Democratic-controlled Senate passed the Fiscal 2010 budget on April 2, 2009.

The Democratic-controlled Senate passed the Fiscal 2011 budget — after repeated Republican delays, mind you — on April 14, 2011.

These are facts.  These things actually happened.  You can Google them and check.

Man, it must be awesome to be a conservative and just make sh*t up all day long.  I guess all you need is a major corporate news source that does nothing but lie and an audience that is so mind-numbingly gullible that it believes everything they say — even when it’s laughably stupid like “the Senate hasn’t passed a budget in three years!”  Right, because that wouldn’t have meant a government shutdown or anything.

        Idiots.

    2. Chrisdleak says:

The Democrats led by Obama and Reid and Pelosi had unparalleled control of the government for two years and gave us NO budget.  He had no plan.  He shoved a blatantly unconstitutional piece of legisation down our throats and has the temerity to  blame his predecessor for every economic ill.  YOU, sir, are the idiot for blindly following these people.

      1. Anonymous says:

Do you realize how many times your republican friends used the
filibuster before 2010? Check the facts before you spout nonsense.
And before you respond tell me how you like the fact that the new
teabag republican plan is to dismantle medicare and Social Security.
I have a feeling that someone like you or someone in your family
is pleased that these programs exist……Finally what about Obama’s
healthcare program which only begins to control the damages which
the private healthcare companies have done to this country for the
past 30 or more years…….How come guys like you never complain
about the monopolies( corporations) in this country who control
every move you make? Have you ever had the integrity to question
anything that fox news has ever told you?
One more thing: How come republicans keep blocking funds for
Obama’s  new Bank Regulatory Commiision, which might limit
the kind of damages the banks have  bestowed to this country over
the past 20 years, beginning with Clinton?

      2. Otto Man says:

“The Democrats led by Obama and Reid and Pelosi had unparalleled control of the government for two years and gave us NO budget.”

What planet do you live on?  We had no budget in 2009 or 2010?

I can’t embed links here, but Google the phrase “2009 budget” and you’ll get it on the first hit.  Then Google the phrase “2010 budget” and you’ll get it on the first hit too.

Jesus Christ, no wonder conservatives are so outraged — they live in an alternate reality in which so many of the things they’d been conned into believing just did not happen.

Congratulations on being so incredibly gullible!

      3. Anonymous says:

The healthcare legislation which has been “shoved down our throats,”
begins the plan to insure 45 million people who are uninsured, makes
it against the law to deny healthcare because of previous health history,
and enables parents to keep their kids on their healthcare plan for
several more years. How do you hate This?????
I know you hate the mandate, but it is means tested, meaning if you
are financially troubled your contribution will be minimal.
Also it is time to understand that small business owners who make
over 250,ooo should be considered well off. ……This is not based on
GROSS SALES, but rather net income. 250,000 in sales can easily
translate to around 100,000 in net income. A big difference.
Instead of insisting that Obama is a Socialist or Marxist try and
learn how in the end he is really looking after middle class interests.
How come I never hear any of you right wingers ranting about
Corporations or monopolies. Why? maybe because Fox does not
want to explain it to you. They simply love Corporate Advertising.
And so does every other news outlet, just scamming all of us.

      4. Momzz says:

You are so right. I think Obama has done a great job considering what he has been up against.  He has got a few things done that other presidents havent done, but tried to.

So, did you have an actual SUBSTANTIVE criticism, or are you just planning on sticking with the Ad Hominems?

    1. Peter says:

Hard to have a sustantive criticism when Perry said nothing. And the bottom line with all the Bill Clinton haters- just have someone take a poll and he would beat anyone running and I would bet he would even get a great majority of Repbulican votes. People do remember the balanced budget he left George Bush, the nation at peace and the mess Bush and the Republicans made of it.

      1. Aramkr says:

You mean the balanced budget the Republicans forced down his throat and the world without the USSR, courtesy of Reagan?

      2. Hey! Jude says:

It’s refreshing to know that there are still honest folks like you in the “shitstem”. Sadly, the majority of the Republicans who are just as poor as the rest of us still can’t think for themselves, but would rather stand by and be fed with rantings of hatred and racist fear mongering by their over paid, moronic media hosts and still think they are patriotic.  ” Just how blind could America be…?” It makes me so sad!

    2. NoCountryForOldMen says:

That’s an actual substantive criticism. It’s a shame if you didn’t get it. He’s running to be head of the government to make sure the government is inconsequential? Does that make any sense? Does the guy even know what the government does? I mean the guy is nuts. He’s good to lead a State, a sectarian group or a secessionist movement, not a federal government.

      1. Aramkr says:

ameRandomName didn’t get it because parodying what someone says and calling  it’ crazy is substantive only in Democrat-world.

      2. Richard says:

I live in Texas and am not a major fan of Perry’s but the one thing I do like about him is that he has a good chance of ousting the idiot that is in the white house at the moment.  I mistakenly voted for Obama not realizing  how inept he was.  He is an embarrasment to our country.  I thought that Bush was bad but he looks like a hero compared to Obama.  Obama was supposed to get us out of the Afghanistan war but instead got us into the war in Libya to boost Al Quaida’s chances of taking control of that country.  Three wars now thanks to Obama.

thing. It’s  a bunch of lies.

    2. BeeSmart says:

Since there are way more middle class people then rich ones if what you are saying is true we have nothing to fear and Perry will lose in a landslide.  Do people really vote against their own interests?  Liberals/Progressives love to point out how stupid the American people are .  Bill Maher even compared them to dogs that must be dragged and pushed into voting “correctly”.   They are so dismissive of their fellow countryman that it is easy to understand the negative views most people have of Liberals.

      1. Anonymous says:

I think I speak for progressives when I state that people are not stupid
just misinformed by the media. Fox news to be specific. Bill Maher is
a comedian saying outrageous things in order to get ratings. I really
believe no one is stupid everyone has something incredibly wonderful
about them. However if you are constantly lied to over and over again
day after day and there is no one to tell the truth, then these lies will
take hold on an individual and impact their opinions beyond any
kind of reason.  For example   a single payer health care system is simply
another term for Medicare. Ask anyone who is on Medicare wether
or not they would rather deal with insurance companies on their own
with financial responsibilities and they will tell you, hell no.
However when right wing republicans tell people over and over again
that  a single payer system is socialism and communism at its worst
and Obamacare seperates you from your doctors  and creates death
panels, the average person who is listening will become very
frightened and fear something that is simply  lie after lie.
Consequently they will vote against their own self interest.
All I want is the govt. to pay for my healthcare and let me see any
doctor or specialist I want. This is very common throughout the
        rest of the industrialized world.
Now that you read this let me tell you the next right wing lie.
This type system will ration care and is very dangerous. Another
big lie, all because of powerful private insurers  and lobbyists.
Ask anyone from Canada if they would trade their system for ours
and they will quickly respond no. Yes we might have the best care
and treatment in this country, but only if your very rich.
