The former Chairman of the Ways and Means Committee gets back into the groove, according to an item in Gatecrasher this morning:

Aretha Franklin plans to make it to Rep. Charlie Rangel’s birthday gala on Aug. 10.

Franklin was scheduled to sing last year, but fell in her bathtub and had to cancel.  Dionne Warwick filled in instead.
