Debt Feeling

Giuliani: If We Default, Blame Obama [Video]

Rudy Giuliani appeared on Fox News last night and placed blame squarely on President Obama if the federal government fails to raise the debt ceiling in advance of the August 2 deadline.

“If we default, and I hope we don’t, 90 percent of the responsibility is on the President of the United States — not on even the Democrats in the House or the Republicans in the House,” the former mayor said. “It’s on him. He’s the leader of this country. He’s the chief executive of this country, and he’s yet to outline a plan because he’s too darn afraid that he’s going to pay political consequences.”

Giuliani said that inexperience explains a lot of what he views as Obama’s failure to lead on the budget issue.

“He’s never done a budget before. We take a guy who’s never done a budget and give him the biggest budget in the world,” he said. Of course he’s going to screw it up.”

Giuliani visited New Hampshire earlier this week, and host Sean Hannity asked him what his plans were for 2012. The mayor said he is still weighing his options.

“What kind of a chance do I really have? How are the candidates doing? Is there anybody that really looks like they can win? My objective is we can not have President Obama after next year,” he said.

When we default, blame Giuliani’s generation.   Why not now instead of later?

Are you kidding me? The republicans refuse to bargain at all. It’s either their way or the highway. And their way is gutting programs like medicare and social security to keep tax breaks for a bunch of rich guys and greedy corporations.

I’m proud of Obama for refusing to give in to their demands. My generation (X) has been getting the short end of the stick from the greedy baby boomers our whole lives. And now they’re trying to screw us out of a decent retirement. I’d like to have programs like social security and medicare around when it comes time for me to retire.

And what really galls me is that these Republicans refuse to accept any blame for the holdup. Do they really think we’re that stupid? Like I say to my kids, it takes two people to fight and to bargain. If one side refuses to participate, they can’t blame inaction on the other side if they refused to engage. The Republicans need to stop acting like spoiled children and bargain.

      Take his statements and …respond!

I think rudy was the best Mayor NYC has had (in MY life time!), emperor Bloomy is absolutely out of touch with any one of us ..regular guy, what we got from him is higher taxes, more gov., less parking spaces, higher meter$, screw’d up roads (yeah, you know …all those bike lanes that benefit .1% and make misery for the rest)… worse city to live in

  5. Todd Graves says:

Rudy Giuliani is a moron. The republicans need to tell the tea party to shut up and fall in line.

  6. Friendlier says:

If he truly believe this, then Giuliani is so out of touch with reality (like most everyone at Fox News) it’s frightening. Of course, only the FN faithful would be insulated enough themselves to watch this and not laugh out loud.

  7. Five says:

Why on earth is anyone giving any credence to the hypocritical discredited blowhard?
