Cuomo Raises For Obama Re-Election

The Democratic National Committee announced today that Gov. Andrew Cuomo will host a fundraiser for President Barack Obama’s re-election bid next month.

Cuomo has kept his distance from the president a bid since assuming office on the first of the year, leading some to speculate that he was hoping the president would lose in order to boost his own prospects for 2016.

The fundraiser, tied to Obama’s 50th birthday, should put the lie to that.

It is being co-hosted with Democratic Leadership for the 21st Century, a local Democratic club, and Patrick Gaspard, the former 1199 political operative now serving as head of the DNC.

The party is at the Beekman Beer Garden, and tickets range from $44, for the younger sort and go up to $1,000.
