He called it “silly” and idle political chatter, but Governor Cuomo is having somewhat of a hard time shaking off questions about being named President Obama’s runningmate.
After a ceremonial bill signing in Buffalo today, a reporter asked what the governor would do “if the president called you.”
“I’m not even going to engage in the political chatter,” Cuomo said. “I’m governor of New York. I’ve been governor of New York for six months. There is a lot of work to do and that is what I am going to stay focused on.”
Before leaving, a reporter tried asking Cuomo not about 2012, but rather, 2016.
“I don’t want to talk about politics, period, is what I’ve been trying to communicate,” he said. “Politics and the political speculation is nothing more than a distraction and I want to avoid [that].”
