Here’s more from State Senator Greg Ball about his objections to the same-sex marriage bill that had Republicans tied up in a four-hour meeting today.
To win Ball’s vote, everyone has “got to have a conversation in the middle about real religious carveouts. The governor sends down a bill that just skims the surface on religious carveouts.” The bill, in its current form, says Ball, “still opens religious organizations to lawsuits and fundamentally doesn’t protect individuals with religious objections.”
Ball said Cuomo has “got to get serious about paying respect to those religious communities” who need protection from this bill.
