Public Advocate Bill de Blasio launched a new website this morning designed to pressure the Bloomberg administration to stave off teacher cuts.

Naturally, he tweeted about it this morning:

The effort didn't sit well however with Bloomberg deputy mayor and communications maven Howard Wolfson, who took a break from Tweeting about Indie Rock and soccer to reply:

Which, naturally, prompted a response from the Public Advocate:

As of press time, Wolfson has the final dig, accusing de Blasio of being silent when the debate mattered (It is worth nothing that de Blasio's former boss, Gov. Andrew Cuomo, had the greatest power of anyone to prevent teacher layoffs.)

As public advocate, de Blasio is practically constitutionally required to throw bricks at the mayor, but this is the first time I've seen a mayoral aide respond via social media
