Earlier this week we reported that Manhattan members of Congress Jerry Nadler and Carolyn Maloney were teaming up with City Comptroller John Liu to raise money for Kathy Hochul, the Eric County clerk running in a surprisingly tight race for Congressional seat vacated by the disgraced Chris Lee.
Today we have received word that Chuck Schumer will be at the fundraiser as well. As our own Reid Pillifant reported this morning, the race in NY-26 has become something of a bellwether for Democrats to see if their attacks on the Paul Ryan budget are able to gain traction. If Hochul can slip past Republican Jane Corwin, expect to see the DCCC blueprint for 2012 look much like this race.
Meanwhile, in other NY-26 news, Karl Rove’s American Crossroads and the DCCC are pouring over half-a-million dollars combined into this race in the final days.
Also of note: Carl Paladino took to Facebook this morning to blast third-party candidate Jack Davis as Tea Partier in name only, while Davis received the endorsement of bonafide Tea Partier David Bellavia.

Bellavia is not a “bona fide” tea party activist. He does not participate in any tea party events or activities in the area, and he claims the mantle when it is convenient for him to do so. Save thing with Davis. The Upstate tea party movement is behind Corwin.
