As the special election in New York’s 26th Congressional District enters its final week, Republicans are going to a stand-by from their recent playbook, releasing an ad tying the Democratic candidate, Kathy Hochul, to the polarizing former Speaker, Nancy Pelosi.
The ad comes in the wake of Pelosi’s appearance at a New York City fundraiser for Hochul on Friday night.
Despite the donation, Pelosi has kept a lower profile in the race than her successor, John Boehner, who stumped for Hochul in Western New York last weekend. The difference: Boehner enjoys relatively high approval ratings, while a Rasmussen poll earlier this month found Pelosi to be the least liked leader in Congress, with a favorability rating of just 30 percent–a number that’s likely even lower in the Republican-leaning district.
