A new poll out by Public Policy Polling yesterday showed that Democrat Kathy Hochul had inched ahead in the race to replace disgraced Republican Congressman Chris Lee.

The western New York district had once been thought to be a Republican lock, but G.O.P. assemblywoman Jane Corwin has slipped in recent polling as independent candidate Jack Davis has remained put up a fierce fight.

Now Democrats are circling the wagons for Hochul, with Senator Kirsten Gillibrand announcing plans to campaign for her in the coming days.

Today a reader passes along the follow invite for a fundraiser for Hochul which brings together Manhattan members of Congress Carolyn Maloney and Jerry Nadler alongside City Comptroller John Liu, the first time, as far as I know, that this particular threesome has spearheaded a fundraising effort.

The event will be at the home of Democratic activist James Simon and $250 gets you in the door. The fundraiser comes on the heels of another one for Hochul hosted by Maloney last month
