Bloomberg Pushes for Marriage Vote

Mayor Michael Bloomberg, who was in Albany earlier this week lobbying state senators to legalize same-sex marriage, said the “state should bring this up for a vote.”

Governor Cuomo, a fellow same-sex marriage supporter, has said he doesn’t want to introduce the bill unless there are enough votes to pass it.

Speaking on his weekly radio show this morning, Bloomberg said legislators “should on the record vote yes or no” but that “whether or not it passes, I don’t know.”

The New York Times this morning came out on the same side as Bloomberg, writing, “No matter what the final count, the vote needs to happen.”
